Why Dallas Families Choose Cremation

Cremation is a personal decision. Here's what Dallas families should know when considering their options.

Significantly More Affordable

Traditional burial in Dallas averages $8,000–$10,000+. Lone Star Cremation packages start at $845, helping Dallas families manage costs without sacrificing dignity or care.

Flexible Memorial Timing

Dallas families can hold a memorial immediately or weeks later — at a venue of their choosing. Cremation removes the urgency of scheduling around burial timelines.

No Cemetery Required

Cremated remains can be kept at home, scattered at a meaningful location in or around Dallas, divided among family members, or placed in a columbarium — entirely your choice.

Private & Dignified

All Lone Star Cremation services are performed privately at a licensed Texas crematory. Your loved one is never co-mingled with others and is treated with complete respect throughout.

Arrange Entirely Online

Dallas families can complete every step of the arrangement process from any device — no office visit, no in-person appointment required unless you want one (Premium plan).

Plan Ahead & Lock In Pricing

Dallas residents can pre-arrange and prepay (Premium plan) to lock in today's pricing and spare their family from making decisions under pressure. Six-month quotes also available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Dallas families about cremation services.

How much does cremation cost in Dallas, Texas?

The average cost of direct cremation in Dallas is approximately $1,582 according to 2026 industry data. Lone Star Cremation offers Dallas cremation packages starting at $845 (Basic), $1,095 (Priority), and $1,695 (Premium) — all with transparent, upfront pricing and no hidden fees. Final cost may vary based on weight, add-ons, and any applicable county surcharges.

Do you serve all of Dallas County?

Yes. Our Basic plan covers Dallas County (and Tarrant County) at the base price. Priority and Premium plans serve a broader range of DFW counties. Some areas outside Dallas County may have a $100 surcharge depending on the plan selected. Call us at (817) 546-0108 and we'll confirm coverage for your specific location immediately.

How does the Dallas County Medical Examiner process work?

When a death occurs in Dallas County, the Medical Examiner's Office must authorize cremation before it can legally take place. We handle this process on your behalf — submitting the required paperwork, obtaining the ME authorization, and securing the state cremation permit. Families do not need to contact the ME's office directly. We manage this step as part of every cremation package.

Can I arrange cremation services online in Dallas?

Yes — Lone Star Cremation was the first DFW cremation provider to offer fully online arrangements. You can select a package, complete death certificate information, and e-sign all required authorizations from any device, 24 hours a day. If you prefer in-person arrangements, our Premium plan includes that option with a licensed funeral director.

What if someone has passed away at a Dallas hospital or nursing home?

If your loved one is currently at a Dallas-area hospital, hospice facility, or nursing home, select your package online first, then call us at (817) 546-0108. We will coordinate the transfer into our care right away. Our staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

How long does cremation take in Dallas?

The typical timeframe from transfer to completion is 7 to 14 days. Most of this time is required by law — the attending physician has up to 10 business days to certify the death certificate, after which the Dallas County Medical Examiner must authorize cremation and the State of Texas must issue a cremation permit. Our Priority and Premium plans offer expedited scheduling once permits are in place. Certified death certificates typically arrive 3 to 6 weeks after cremation.

Can I prepay for cremation in Dallas?

Yes. Our Premium plan includes a prepaid cremation option for Dallas County residents, allowing you to lock in today's pricing for future use. Prepaid plans are subject to Texas Department of Banking rules. Call us at (817) 546-0108 or visit our Premium plan page to learn more.

What is direct cremation and is it available in Dallas?

Direct cremation means the cremation is performed without a formal viewing, visitation, or funeral service beforehand. It is the most affordable type of cremation. All three of our packages are direct cremation services. Families can still hold a memorial, celebration of life, or graveside service at a time and place of their choosing after the cremation is complete. Direct cremation starting at $845 is available throughout Dallas County and surrounding areas.
